Instead of focusing on a single type of weapon, this tech expresses a general knowledge of weapons and how they are used in combat, making one particularly deadly with all manners of weapons.

T E C H N I C A L - S P E C I F I C A T I O N S

This is the broadened and generalized version of Weapon Proficiency. Rather than being focused on a specific weapon type, a character may choose to study this technique in either melee weaponry or ranged weaponry (or both, if both versions are studied) and increase his/her effective skill with those weapons.

When a user trains in General Weapons Training - Melee (CTN #0017a), he/she can perform offensive and defense maneuvers with any melee weapon with .25x more force and .25x more apparent speed than usual. The other version of this tech, General Weapons Training - Ranged (CTN #0017b), gives no force bonus, but gives a .50x apparent speed bonus instead. Neither tech may be trained more than once. Melee weapons that are thrown are still considered melee.

It is important to note that the speed endowed by this technique is a kind of "virtual" speed. Rather than actual speed, for melee weapons, that represents difficulty in reading movement. For ranged weapons, it represents the skill and accuracy of the user, and his/her ability to read and predict his/her enemy's movements. Thus, even if this tech makes the effective speed greater than a victim's eyesight detection, they can still see it move. However, in turn, they should find it much more difficult to block or dodge in that respect, unless they also have weapon proficiency of some kind.

Only one level of this technique is available, but it is cumulative with levels of Weapon Proficiency (For instance, if you learn one level of WP: Swords and this tech, you effectively have Level 2 of WP for Swords. You continue to use the tech day requirement for the level of WP that you're at, however.). However, training in this technique does not permit an effective WP above level 4 (thus, training level 4 WP in Swords after gaining this tech would be pointless, and already having level 4 WP for Swords when you get this tech would not make the effective level any higher.).

This tech is not applicable toward weapons that are permanently attached to the user (such as claws, or racially natural projectiles), controlled by an unattached force (such as floating in a psion's SoI), or any other fashion where it is extremely difficult or impossible to disarm the weapon from the user.

This tech costs 120 (90/150) tech days.
